OKRA Director Shireen Dickson has received a 2024-2025 Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events Individual Artist Program grant to support restaging our show “Roots to Rap: Evolutions of American Rhythm” with Chicagoland artists for Chicago audiences!
This truly exciting and momentum-generating opportunity will allow OKRA to begin working with six dancers in paid rehearsals beginning in September 2024 in preparation for a Black History Month 2025 tour of the show.
